| The morning of Saturday,
September 18 looked ominous as Ivan gusted and rained his final energies
on SE Pennsylvania. The unwelcome words, "Shall we cancel?"
were uttered, but stalwart we stayed, knowing the charming old Woodward
Farmhouse would be our cozy refuge. About 25 At the bounteous table, Cousin Ruth Kreb's Hobo Beans were an especial hit and June Waterman's two delectable grape pies went fast. We had a great time telling family stories. Cousin Alfred Woodward enlightened us about the steam engine displays at the annual Rough and Tumble Week in Kinzers, PA. Of course as always, our patriarch, Horace Woodward, was with us, observing his 96th birthday! At day's end, we exited to a cool
northwest breeze and a setting sun, a happy ending to a happy day. Warm
appreciation to our hosts Phyllis Woodward Gray and
her brother, Alfred Woodward, and to our great co-organizers,
Deb and Sarah Stamm. [click on photos for larger views] |
